The village has in recent years been recognised as the jewel in North Leinster's Crown – the idyllic holiday retreat easily accessible to both Dublin and Belfast yet retaining its natural ambience.

Carlingford, situated one hour from Dublin and Belfast on the Cooley Peninsula lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty, boasting spectacular coastal and mountain scenery.

The Peninsula's capital (Carlingford) is one of Ireland's foremost medieval towns - a market town and seaport with narrow streets still graced with castles and historical buildings bearing witness to its centuries-old history.

Nestled at the foot of Slieve Foy, it gazes across Carlingford Lough to the mountains of Mourne and provides easy access to water and land-based activities, such as golf, sailing, windsurfing, and hill-walking. Its sea-faring and agricultural tradition are today reflected in its many excellent restaurants and pubs.
